My name is Ryan Headley and I'm a geek of sorts. I'd like to consider myself a Jack-of-All-Trades in the IT industry, but really I'm a developer with a networking background. The caveat to calling yourself a Jack-of-All-Trades is that in implies that you are a Master of None. While this is probably true for the most part on my behalf, I do feel that I'm leaving behind that particular epithet and really moving into the world of development.
I've used Java, PHP, Ruby on Rails and most recently Grails. The latter of which "almost" makes me want to go out and find some Java hosting. Having said that, the majority of my personal work takes place in the PHP world and my 8 to 5 paychecks come from the Java (and now Grails) world.
A quick note on the design of the site. I originally set out to make the entire site look like a terminal window with "vi" running in it. However, a friend and colleague of mine gave me the idea of making it look like an Ubuntu desktop (our Linux Distro of choice) and then each blog entry/comment look like a terminal window. I went with it. I like and while it is not exactly a perfect representation of a Linux desktop I think the hint should be picked up on. It doesn't make for a very "pretty" site either, but thats not what this is about anyway.
I run another personal blog that is mainly for friends and family and got tired of having them have to sift through my geek-related rants so I decided to start a dev-blog. The name "sudovi" came from a discussion I had with another friend/colleague when he said "sudough-veye" would make a great band name. I had agreed, (after pointing out he had the pronounciation wrong, though I like his better) and then checked for availability of the domain. It was available, and here we are.
So thanks to Brian Volk, who suggested the name and without his permission to register this domain, it wouldn't be here. And thanks to Jeff Zisser for the design ideas.
